Opening up the worlds of words, books and language to kids who have been shut out of them brings me more joy than anything I have done in my career. So after many years of volunteering as a reading tutor during my career as a marketing executive, I got my certification in Orton-Gillingham. I help kids who just need some support and those with diagnosable learning disabilities, such as dyslexia.
Having learned two foreign languages (I speak French and Spanish), I have first-hand experience in what it takes to learn a language that doesn’t come naturally. I combine this knowledge with the individual needs and personalities of your child and craft tailor-made lesson plans for each session. This, together with multi-sensory Orton- Gillingham methodology, stimulates and syncs the parts of the brain that need to work together. This winning combination provides the tools struggling readers need to read (decode) and spell (encode).
Though Orton-Gillingham is rigorous, I instill fun techniques into each lesson. And it works. My elementary-school-aged children move from being unable to decipher or spell the most basic words to participating in the joys of reading and writing. My kids know that I am rooting for their success as much as they are as we cheer each and every step of their progress together. Along the way, their self-esteem improves and the world opens up to their inquisitive minds. What could be better?

My daughter was in first grade when I first realized she had learning disabilities. It was frightening to think she couldn’t keep up with her peers. She was losing self-confidence, self-esteem and was discouraged about school in general. She had a hard time reading even simple words and couldn’t do her homework.
I had the blessing and luck to meet Robin in the early stages of my research for a tutor. I immediately felt reassured by her and didn’t look any further.
It was hard in the beginning and Ella naturally pushed back, unwilling to fully engage in her tutoring lessons. Robin was spectacular in her ability to win her trust and attention and, slowly but surely, Ella started seeing results. Now, as a rising 4th grader, she doesn’t stop reading chapter book after chapter book. She really loves reading and she’s much happier with herself and much more confident. The other day she told me that she is thinking of becoming a writer…. Robin, thank you! As they say: we couldn’t have done it without you.
Robin has become a point of reference, not only for my daughter but for me also. She has offered us precious insights and connected us with other professionals. And we have always had incredibly easy and seamless interactions. I hold her in the highest regard for the passion, commitment and skills she brings to her work. I would be happy to talk to anyone about Robin. Just ask her for my number. - Mariano

With her patience and skills, she has helped our daughter go from a timid, self-conscious, non-reader to a confident, grade level reader and writer who is proud of her accomplishments as she enters 4th grade. Our daughter now looks forward to her tutoring sessions because she sees and feels the difference they have made.
Robin’s guidance and suggestions have also given our family the tools to help our daughter in the future. She consistently goes the extra mile to help us navigate through the challenges.I can’t say enough about how fortunate we are to have Robin tutoring our daughter. - Judith

Having Robin as my tutor is great. You learn many different things and have fun while learning. She taught me letter blends, sounding out words, holding a pencil, writing sentences. She is awesome and
a really nice person. - Jack

Robin has been working with our family for 18 months. My son was struggling with his spelling and writing at school and it was definitely affecting his day-to-day school life.
He was half-way through second grade when we met Robin and she and my son immediately clicked into a lovely relationship. My son respects Robin, feels that he improving in class and, overall, is much happier. Throughout third grade we saw a real improvement, which was mirrored by the teachers’ comments and also in my son’s growing confidence.
Most importantly, we feel that Robin really understands our son’s needs and personality. She adapts his lessons to suit him, always making them as fun as possible and using techniques that the individual student enjoys the most: special “Go Fish” cards to play, lots of positive feedback and small rewards, such as stickers. All of them work.
Robin makes the effort to collaborate with our school gives extremely detailed feedback to his teachers to help them see what we are doing at home and to ask what they see so that she can best help them, us and my son.
We are very happy that we are lucky enough to work with Robin and would highly recommend her to other families in the same situation. – Parent
